Your child will have opportunities to participate in and choose from a given number of daily activities, consisting of Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, Creative Arts, Language Development, Fine and Gross Motor Development, Sensory Motor Development, and Social Development. In addition to the regular daily curriculum, your child will be exposed to various extracurricular activities focusing on Cultural Diversity, Music, Recycling, Health and Safety, Gardening, Environmental awareness, Cooking and much, much more. Daily activities are planned to encourage confidence, self-responsibility, exploration, cooperation, creativity, and physical movement.

Our curriculum also consists of large group activities, small group learning stations and individual learning experiences. Experienced teachers provide a well -rounded curriculum for every child's learning style and ability. Each activity is modified to your child's unique learning style and level to provide a stimulating, challenging, fun and rewarding learning experience.

The children at Foothill Preschool and Kindergarten are taught respect for themselves, others and the environment. Learning should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Therefore school should not place pressure upon your child. It should foster and encourage the desire for learning that all children have. Teachers will send fun optional activities home for parents to explore with their child.

Toddlers

Our preschool as a whole provides the flexibility that all children need as they enter in and move through their very early years of education. Foothill Preschool pays special attention to our younger children. Your child is adjusting to a new place, maybe away from Mom and Dad for the first time in a new setting of learning and growing.

Even the youngest of children demonstrate strong learning preferences as well as areas of relative weakness. We take special care with these little ones to help them adjust and feel confident and happy in these new surroundings. Some children will demonstrate an easy transition, while others may struggle and need Mom and Dad for emotional support during their first days. We encourage this type of transition and will work together as we help your child become comfortable and independent. Before you know it, your little one will be running around enjoying our activities of fun, play and education.

Our warm and positive program, along with our nurturing and strong staff support, will guide your toddler into success. All children experience success in such a setting and develop into happy, confident and motivated learners. We take pride in creating and implementing programs that meet your child's individual needs. We take special care of all of our students at Foothill Preschool.

Naps and Meals

IMG 11601A quiet rest/nap time is included in the schedules of children who will attend Foothill Preschool all day. Depending on the age and needs of your child, a quiet rest/nap time may be added or adjusted in your child's schedule. An individual cot will be provided for your child with his/her name on it. Please bring a small blanket and a crib-size sheet marked with your child's name in a small sealable bag. This is for your child's protection against exposure to other's germs. You may want to add a small stuffed animal or doll if it will help your child rest. These nap items will return home every Friday and need to be Laundered and returned to school the following Monday. (Failure to return the napping items will result in a $5.00 fee for renting clean sheets and blankets from the school.)

Snack and Lunch

Foothill Preschool will serve a nutritious mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack based on the guidelines from the State food program. The weekly snack menu will be posted inside the classroom and sent home monthly to parents. Please make sure Foothill Preschool staff is aware of any food allergies and/or dietary needs your child has and post them near the snack and lunch areas. Children need to bring their own lunch, napkins, drinks, and utensils. Please pack nutritious foods that your child likes. Please do not send candy or soda, as children tend to choose those items first and are unable to finish the nutritious food you packed for them. Please include any preparation instructions with your child's lunch. Staff will refrigerate and warm foods as needed. Any food requiring to be heated will need to be stored in a microwavable container. If you would like your child to celebrate his/her birthday at school, you may send a special treat to be shared at snack time. Please send healthy alternatives for celebrations such as muffins, raisins, fruit, etc. A candle can be placed on almost anything!
